SONATINE / SONATINE (廃盤TAPE) [USED]
米ロサンゼルスの少部数リリース・レーベルSINNESLOSCHENから2016年に限定15本で配給されたレーベル主宰者Shane Bartlettのソロ変名〈SONATINE〉によるダーク・アンビエント作。 connecting Kitano's SONATINE and TS Eliot's The Waste Land, delicate synth loops contemplating suicide. ON MARGATE SANDS is a line in TS Eliot's The Waste Land. The line and the segment it appears in was written at Margate Sands, where Eliot was recovering from a nervous breakdown. Murakawa's Decision points to Takeshi Kitano's film SONATINE, which ends with the suicide of its main character, Murakawa. The sonatine is a short, easy sonata suitable for students. As Kitano describes: "...when learning the piano, when the learner gets to sonatinas they have to decide where they want to go, whether it is to classical, jazz or popular music; marking the point of crucial decision making." As the artist Sonatine writes: "All decisions can be stripped down to the most basic, simple questions, and therein lies the agony. As the plethora of choices--a shield that wards off the necessity of choosing anything at all--falls away, the actual question must be answered with a simple yes or no."
