<a href="https://basicfunction-releases.bandcamp.com/album/mousu">申 (Mousu) ju sei</a> 田中淳一郎（ギター／作曲）とsei（歌／作詞）によるデュオ・ju seiの久々のフルアルバム『申（mousu）』。 近年はユタカワサキ、大蔵雅彦、Michael Thieke、biki、テンテンコらとの共作や、七里圭監督との「L'ÉCOLE DE NOËL」など、コラボレーションが主だったju seiにとって、本作は2011年の『コーンソロ』以来となる待望の単独作。日本語詞による言葉遊びや、seiの声のテクスチャーを用いた実験性を軸に展開される形容しがたいビザールなポップミュージックは、本作においてさらに歪みが極まっている。 電子音／電子ノイズへの傾倒も深化し、壮大なオーケストレーションが展開されるA4「雪の無関係」等のトラックでは、現代音楽的な要素も垣間見せる。 日英歌詞カード＆ダウンロードコード付き。300枚限定プレスのアナログLP作品。 Mousu is the long-awaited full-length album by ju sei, the duo of Junichiro Tanaka (guitar/composition) and sei (vocals/lyrics). In recent years, ju sei has mainly focused on collaborations — with Utah Kawasaki, Masahiko Okura, Michael Thieke, biki, Tentenko, and film director Kei Shichiri on L'ÉCOLE DE NOËL — making this work their first solo album since Corn Solo (2011). Their inexpressibly bizarre form of pop music, developed around Japanese wordplay and the experimental use of sei’s vocal textures, reaches its most refined warpedness on this album. Their inclination toward electronic sound and noise has also deepened, and in tracks such as A4 "Snow is Irrelevant", where grand orchestration unfolds, one can glimpse elements of contemporary classical music. Limited analog LP edition of 300 copies. （リリースインフォメーションより） 国内実験即興／サウンドアートの拠点〈Ftarri〉のサブレーベル〈Meenna〉や老舗レコード店〈円盤〉などからの作品で知られる「ju sei」。ソロ名義「のっぽのグーニー」ではテンテンコ楽曲のリミックスを手掛けた事も知られる田中淳一郎（ギター／作曲）と、ヴォーカリストseiによる実験音響系“歌もの”デュオが、大城真主宰の〈Basic Function〉より最新アルバムを発表。 90年代幻想浮遊系ポップス、フリー・ミュージック、エレクトロアコースティックを経由しつつ、「After DinnerのHacoに憑依した矢野顕子が〈360°records〉から“密室的KATRA TURANA”として登場したら？」という、特異なミッシング・リンクを体現するような一枚だ。 白昼夢のような記憶の断片、幼少期の無垢、メリーゴーランドの暗い影。それらが幻日の手前で滲み、亡霊的音響に導かれるように淡々とした語りで紡ぎ上げられていく。祈りのような追憶と、微睡みの隣で手招く逢魔ヶ刻が交錯する。 ニカ・ポップの透徹とミュージックコンクレート的な虚脱が密室の隙間から漏れ出す「一言」、Kate NV〜山口美央子〜クレプスキュール的シンセ・ポップの微かな煌めきを宿す「雪の無関係」、Anestis Logothetisにも通じる磁気テープ的実験と現代的電子音響が交錯する「鱧」。それらが箱庭的な童心とシュルレアリスムの遊戯性の中で接続し、極私的なメタ・アンビエント歌謡の結晶として現れているかのようだ。 “家で生まれた音楽”の果てに立つ、精緻に歪んだホームメイド・ミュージックの詩的記録である。 ju sei is the experimental song duo of vocalist sei and Junichiro Tanaka (aka Noppo no Goony, known for his remix work with Tentenko). Active within Tokyo's experimental and improvisational scene around Ftarri and Enban, the duo now presents their latest album on Makoto Oshiro's Basic Function label. Mousu drifts between '90s phantasmic pop, freeform music, and electroacoustic soundwork. It seems to trace a peculiar continuum—as if Akiko Yano, possessed by After Dinner's Haco, were to emerge on 360° Records as a chamber-pop incarnation of KATRA TURANA. Fragments of daydream memory, childhood innocence, and the shadow of a carousel surface in quiet, spoken melodies and ghostly, acoustic spaces. "One Word" lets the lucid detachment of electronica/glitch-pop seep through the cracks of a small room; "Snow is Irrelevant" shimmers with echoes of synth-pop in the lineage of Kate NV and Mioko Yamaguchi; "Hamo (Pike Conger)" intertwines magnetic tape–like experimentation with contemporary electronic textures. These moments connect within a miniature garden of childlike imagination and surreal play, forming a crystalline instance of deeply personal, meta-ambient chanson—a poetic record standing at the far edge of meticulously warped "homemade music." ──門脇綱生／Tsunaoki Kadowaki（Meditations／Sad Disco） seiさまの歌声は限りなく清潔で、キワキワな可憐さを保持している。 田中淳一郎はやはり完全主義のコンポーザー、一曲一曲の濃縮と洗練が凄まじい。 何もかも代替可能で自動生成もどきの表現が跋扈する堕落したこの世界に、舞い降りた天使とそれを守り抜く騎士（ナイト）がju seiなのだと思う。 私はかつてある人に「お前の映画は誰にも似ていない」と誉められたことを心の糧に生きているが、その言葉をそっくり献呈したい。 ju seiは孤高の中の孤高。マスター・オブ・‘ワン＆オンリー’だ！ sei's voice is of immaculate purity, carrying a fragile grace that always hovers at the very edge. Junichiro Tanaka is, as ever, a perfectionist composer—each piece is astonishingly condensed and refined. In this degenerate world overrun by replaceable, quasi–automatically generated expressions, ju sei appears as an angel descending from above, and the knight who protects her. I once lived by the praise someone gave me—"your film resembles no one else's."
